Digital technology is a double-edged sword

Nowadays, we are pleased to embrace the convenience provided by the digital technology, such as Internet, Smartphone and laptop. Digital technology is constantly increasing so that we can enjoy more benefits from it. However, we have to admit that digital technology is inevitably changing us. Our lifestyles are completely different from those who lived hundreds of years before. It seems that we are obsessing with many digital technology products. Most of us, including me, are unable to live in the environment without Smartphone. Therefore, digital technology is actually getting to control us. We regard the digital technology product as gadget, while from the opposite perspective, we ourselves seem to be the gadget. There is a disparity of us between our real lives us and ourselves online. When we try to contact with our friends, we usually rely on communication software instead of meeting them. We are easy to convey our opinions through internet due to the anonymity of Internet, but in the real life we sometimes are hard to express our ideas. Our virtual identity is gaining more proportion through the digital technology, while the real sense of us is weakening. It is essential to keep our true self identity in order not to be "enslaved" by the digital technology.
